MOOC Mapping Guide

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are flexible online classes offered by universities and industry partners worldwide. For NTU students, they are a practical way to build skills outside your core timetable, and selected pre-approved MOOCs can be used for credit transfer.

Depending on course type and eligibility, transferred MOOCs may count toward Major PE, GER PE, or UE/BDE requirements.

1) Enrolling in a MOOC

  • Use your NTU email when creating your MOOC platform account where applicable.
  • Platforms in this guide: Coursera, edX, and FutureLearn.
  • Campus collections: Coursera Campus and FutureLearn Collection.

2) Applying for credit transfer

  • Prepare your eCertificate, welcome email showing enrolment date, and a reflection report.
  • Applications by Teaching Week 11 are typically posted in the same semester; later applications are recorded in the following semester.
  • The maximum transferable total is 12 AUs over your NTU candidature.
